Bugün 18 Mart. Büyük bir Zafer günü. Aynı zamanda Şehitler günü. Zafer ve Şehit kavramlarının içiçe geçmesi çok anlamlıdır. Zaferlerin temelinde Şehitlerin bulunduğunu anlatır. O Şehitler ki, onlar sayesinde zaferler kazanılmış ve istikbalin kapıları açılmıştır. Bugün rahmetle anımsayalım bütün Şehitlerimizi.
Dışişleri camiasının aziz Şehitlerini de saygıyla analım bugün. Terör örgütlerinin, Türk nefretiyle gözü dönmüş canavar ruhlu teröristlerin kurbanı oldular. Sadece Türkiye’yi temsil ettikleri için hedef alındılar. Teröristler bu yoldan Türk diplomatlarını korkutacaklarını sandılar ama yanıldılar. Şehitlerini düşünerek, anarak daha da güçlendi, korkusuz oldu Türk diplomatları. Terörün susturamayacağı bir vatan sevgisiyle dünyanın dört yanında hizmetlerini sürdürdüler. 18 Mart Şehitlerimizin aziz ruhlarıyla buluşarak memleket ve hizmet aşkını yineleme günüdür.
Bu vesileyle ne yazık ki vurgulamamız gereken bir husus bulunmaktadır. ABD’nin Kaliforniya eyaletinin Şehidimiz Kemal Arıkan’ın katilini bağışlamayı öngördüğü haberi alınmıştır. Terörizmle mücadele anlayışına ters düşen bu girişimi şiddetle kınıyoruz ve ABD Dışişleri Bakanlığının Kaliforniya eyaletini eleştiren bir açıklama yapmasını doğru ama yetersiz bulduğumuzu söylemek istiyoruz. APM’s Statement on the Occasion of Martyrs’ Day
Today is March 18th. A great Victory Day. It is also the Martyrs’ Day. It is indeed meaningful that today victory and our martyrs reunite in full blossom. This day connotes the martyrs as the foundation of victories. Grace be upon them; victories were won and halls of future were wide opened. Let us remember all our martyrs by duly paying our tribute to them. Mercy be upon them.
Today, let us also recall in full respect the beloved martyrs of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. They fell victim to the monstrous members of terror organizations filled with hatred against Turks. Our martyrs were targeted only because they represented Turkey, our homeland. Those terrorists believed they would intimidate Turkish diplomats by terror, but they were proven wrong. Turkish diplomats felt stronger and became more fearless by reflection and commemoration of their martyrs. They continued to fully discharge their services inspired by unshakeable love of their motherland, which terror cannot silence. 18th March is the day to reinforce our allegiance to our homeland and services we fulfil by reuniting with the sacred souls of our martyrs.
There exists an issue we need to underline on this meaningful day. News of late have it the state of California intends to extend pardon to the murderer of our martyr, Kemal Arıkan, killed in service. We strongly condemn this intention challenging and undermining the fight against terrorism. In that respect we should like to unequivocally underline that the statement announced by the US Department of State criticizing the initiative of the state of California is correct, but insufficient. Let friends and foes clearly know: Terror cannot by any means defeat the Turkish diplomat.
